## student numbers and cost

**This is a one hour program which costs $5 per student. The minimum cost for the program, irrespective of student numbers is $150. The number of students participating in the program is negotiable, and multiple sessions can be run on the same day.**

__THERTTTTTHTHHTHGTHERERERTHERE'S AN ARCHAEOLOGIST IN THE CLASSROOM!__

__APPRENTICE ARCHAEOLOGISTS__This is a two hour program which costs $10 per student. The minimum cost for the program, irrespective of student numbers is $250.

While there is no minimum number of students, the maximum number of students per group is 40. Two groups of students can participate in the program on the same day (2 x 2 hour sessions), so up to 80 students from the same school can participate each day. Below are two common examples of how the program would be organised for different numbers and sizes of classes.

EXAMPLE 1: School A has two year 4 classes, each with 26 students. IDA visits School A and runs the Apprentice Archaeologists program twice on the day, one session for each class.

EXAMPLE 2: School B has three year 5 classes, each with 25 students. IDA visits School B and runs the Apprentice Archaeologists program twice on the day, with 37 students in the first session, and 38 students in the second session.

**The full day simulated excavation program typically runs for about 4 hours, not including student breaks, thereby encompassing most of the school day.**

__FULL DAY SIMULATION__The Junior program (for students in years 3 - 8) costs $15 per student. The Senior program (for students in years 9 - 12) costs $18 per student. The minimum cost for either of these programs, irrespective of student numbers, is $350.

There is no minimum number of students, but the full day simulation runs most effectively with 24 students. This ensures that there are sufficient students to complete the archaeological tasks (4 teams of 6 students for the excavation session, and 6 teams of 4 students for artefacts processing and analysis), without having 'too many cooks', so to speak. A few additional students can easily be accommodated, but all of us would be well aware of the danger of idle students!

__A new 2 hour version of the simulation has been designed to accomodate schools who, under the increasing time pressures of a crowded curriculum, may find it difficult to accomodate an incursion for their class which encompasses the full school day. This new version of the simulation also facilitates the participation of two classes on the same day, with the dig being reset in between sessions.__

**TWO HOUR SIMULATION**The cost for participating in the two hour simulation is $14 per student. The minimum cost for this program, irrespective of student numbers is $250 per class.

The structure of the program is designed to deliver sound learning outcomes for students, however, we are keenly aware that a one-size-fits-all approach to learning is rarely successful. For this reason, we are more than willing to discuss ways in which the program can be tailored to suit the individual needs of your school or cohort, and this includes ways of adapting participant numbers.

**A non-refundable deposit of $50 is required to secure your booking. After a suitable time for the IDA visit has been arranged, the deposit needs to be paid within one week. If this isn't done, your booking may be forfeited if another school requests the same date.**

__Booking deposit__** Deposits are non-refundable if the booking is cancelled by the school. If, for any reason, the booking is cancelled by the program director, or must be rescheduled due to unforseen circumstances and an alternate time can not be arranged, the booking fee will be refunded to the school.
