SIMULATION d-i-y EDUCATION PACKS
To cater for ongoing demand for hands-on archaeological experiences for students, we have designed Do-It-Yourself Simulation Education Pack which will have everything you need to create an authentic archaeological simulation at your school. You can choose from the following elements:
* Design: a fully designed and planned archaeological simulation in consultation with Melissa, tailored specifically to your school's needs. Detailed planning diagrams are included.
* Program: a full written program with outcomes, activities and learning resources matched to the Australian Curriculum outcomes (History) and the NESA syllabus outcomes.
* Resources: print resources to support your activities (for examples, excavation proformas, recording and interpretation proformas, archaeological reports and articles (both fictional and non-fictional) which are age/stage appropriate. If you would like, you can also choose from a number of formal assessment activities that can accompany a simulated excavation.
* Tutorials: series of tutorials and webinars designed by Melissa to walk you trough the process of setting up a simulation, as well as teaching and learning resources for your students (such as an explanation of the archaeological process with activities, how to analyse artefacts, how to publish an archaeological report, etc.).
* Artefact sourcing: artefact buying guide: where and how to obtain the most authentic replica artefacts (many of which don't cost the earth) or objects that can be used as artefacts in a simulation.
* Artefact starter kit: Melissa can take all of the hard work out for you and supply you with a starter kit for your simulation. You pick and choose the atefacts you would like to include and the quantities you need from a set list, and Melissa will source the best quality artefacts at a fair price.
* Equipment sourcing: where and how to obtain good quality equipment that will last longer than your first simulation.
* Equipment starter kit: basic archaeological excavation kit designed for a simulation involving 24 students is available, and you can also purchase multiples thereof.
* Consultation: You get Melissa onsite for the set-up, advising those involved on the best way to assemble the dig, and best-practice for re-setting the dig for the next group of students at the end!
