Feedback
Any education program should undertake an evaluatory process to critically assess how well it achieves its educational goals. Using this vitally important data, the IDA program can evolve, grow, adapt to changes in research and technology, and basically meet your educational needs in an even more effective way.
FEEDBACK FROM TEACHERS AND STUDENTS ABOUT IDA
From the teachers:
"Excellent! Your program gave the students a very real sense of what it is to be an archaeologist, and the painstaking unglamorous nature of the job. The program had a diverse range of learning activities and ran for a good length. Students gained an immense amount of knowledge about the archaeological process and experienced something they simply can't from textbooks. An invaluable resource!" (Secondary teacher, DET school western Sydney)
"My students had a fantastic time experiencing the world of the archaeologist. The program is engaging for the students, and comprehensive in its treatment of archaeology. The students were talking about your visit for weeks afterwards." (Secondary teacher, DET school south-western Sydney)
"10/10! The dig was well planned and very interesting for the students." (Secondary teacher, north-western Sydney Independent school).
"A wonderful idea to bring a simulated archaeological site to schools. Students can clearly see the important process taking place and be a part of it as well. Thanks so much Melissa!" (Secondary teacher, northern Sydney Independent school).
"What an excellent program this is! My gifted and talented group were enthralled and continued to speak about the program for weeks afterwards. You very successfully take a complex discipline and make it accessible for students of even this young age. They learned so much and thoroughly enjoyed themselves." (Primary teacher, DET school southern Sydney)
From the students:
"We had a great time being archaeologists for the day. We learned a lot and realised that archaeology is a very complicated job!"
"I had no idea that archaeology was like that. It was fun digging up the artefacts and trying to figure out what they were trying to tell us."
"It was so much fun pretending to be archaeologists, but it was also really hard work!"
"While it was fun digging up the artefacts, I really liked examining them afterwards. Even a little thing like a bead can tell you so much about the people that made it, like what technology they had, and what they liked to wear."
